TFSI stands for Turbo Fuel Stratified Injection, a petrol engine technology that combines direct fuel injection with turbocharging. Introduced in the Audi A3 in 2004, the TFSI was the first turbocharged direct injection engine in the market.These are Audi’s most common gasoline engines. They use direct injection and turbocharging to provide a good balance of power and fuel economy. TFSI engines come in a variety of sizes, from the 1.4-liter four-cylinder to the 4.0-liter V8.
Turbocharging utilizes exhaust gases to drive a turbine, compressing the incoming air before it enters the combustion chamber. This increases the air/fuel mixture’s density, enhancing the vehicle’s power output. Fuel Stratified Injection, on the other hand, precisely delivers fuel into the combustion chamber, allowing for greater control over the fuel/air mixture. The result is improved compression within the cylinder, leading to enhanced performance and efficiency
TDI, which stands for Turbocharged Direct Injection, is Audi’s technology for diesel engines. These are Audi’s most common diesel engines. Like TFSI, TDI engines incorporate turbocharging and direct injection technology, where the primary difference is the type of fuel used – diesel in TDI and petrol in TFSI. They use direct injection and turbocharging to provide a good balance of power, torque, and fuel economy. TDI engines come in a variety of sizes, from the 2.0-liter four-cylinder to the 4.2-liter V8.
